Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Welcome back!

Welcome back from winter break!

ALTEC is excited about this semester's workshops series. We will kick off the new year with our workshop, Technology Integration in the Classroom (Tues. January 29th 3pm-5pm OR Wed. January 30th). This is a REQUIRED workshop for those of you who are working to complete the FLTP requirements, so please plan to attend.

We will be offering 4 new workshops this semester as well.
  • February 12th and 13th, Mark Knowles will lead a workshop on Productivity Tools for Teaching and Research in which he will present on tools to assist you in annotating pdfs, creating bibliographies, and organizing your professional life, with a slant towards users of tablets such as iPads.
  • February 26th and 27th Edwige will lead the How to Flip? Building Grammar Tutorials workshop in which she will introduce participants to the flipped classroom, a hybrid instructional model in which the majority of instruction is done online and the face-to-face classes are used for practicing concepts.
  • The Scaffolding with Technology workshop in March will assist participants in scaffolding their student projects to enable the students to perform more complicated tasks at a higher level.
  • In April we will discuss Student-Centered Technology Projects, and look at the advantages of student-centered projects as well as possible projects for you to carry out in your classroom. We hope to see you this spring!
